Marathon?
So, it is a little over six months until the Country Music Marathon, and I haven't yet talked myself out of participating. The last couple of years I've done the half, and the course for the full and the half marathon is the same up to about mile 11 or so. At that point the half turns right onto Jefferson while the full keeps going on up 8th. Both times at that split my one thought has been Thank you Lord that I'm not doing the full marathon, and it has been that memory that has dissuaded me from attempting the full.
However, recently I've been on an exercise kick, and have gotten into pretty good shape. My current regiment is doing some sort of circuit training mess four or five days a week and then a long run on Sunday afternoon. My first long run was 5.5 miles, the next Sunday 7.5, the next 11, and yesterday was over 12.5 miles in under two hours. The good news is that the mileage and the pace keep improving, and the bonus news is that I've actually lost some weight, which is quite miraculous considering I could live on a diet of fried cheese and pasta if I could. The not so good news is that 12.5 miles is still only halfway there, and though I made it to Life Group and dinner what I really wanted to do last night was to go home and die.
Oh well, it is still six months away, so lots of time to decide. I currently have two goals. One is to complete the marathon while there are still officials present at the finish line to mark time. The second is to still be alive later in the day. If I can keep up the exercise through the cold months I'll definitely try. Maybe.

you need to train with the Inner Strength group. don't let the price freak you out. the group dynamic, accountability, socials, discounts around town, strength workouts, massages, food/drink, support, and encouragement is about the only thing that gets me up for a 7am saturday morning run!!
i'm on my way to lean, mean, running machine! my CM 1/2 goal is 2:15!
Deal killer: 7 am run. All the other things sound great though.
